Unique documents from the Great Western Railway kept at Didcot Railway Centre will be used in a BBC Radio 4 programme next week.

The GWR Trust’s collection at Didcot includes all the GWR annual reports and a copy of the letter from Benjamin Disraeli, then Chancellor of the Exchequer, refusing the company's request for a loan from the Government in 1867.

Makers of The Long View wanted to pair GWR’s financial problems in 1867 with a discussion about the London to Edinburgh East Coast Main Line franchise.

It will be broadcast at 9am on Tuesday, August 4, and repeated at 9.30pm.
