I must take issue with Graham Lovelock regarding his proposal to charge for Park and Ride in the County (Oxford Mail July 22).
Surely the fact that the car park is full indicates that non-charging is working. Why suggest empty parking spaces being more attractive?
The idea is to keep traffic out of the city centre, thereby protecting the environment and air quality there.
If he wants to help the council, he can pop into Oxford and pay the charges in the car parks.
It might be more reasonable to reduce the deficit if a reasonable charge of say 50p was introduced for parking on-street after 6pm.
