WHAT a wonderful response to the appeal by the Oxford Animal Sanctuary in their hour of need with donations in excess of £60,000.

My wife and I attended their open day at Stadhampton this afternoon (Sunday, July 26) as did it seems several hundred supporters, many of whom came along with their dogs, as did we.

There were plenty of stalls, tombola, games, raffle etc manned by dedicated volunteers, all animal lovers and the refreshment tent with drinks and hundreds of delicious home-made cakes at very cheap prices, no doubt baked by many of the volunteer ladies, made the whole event a complete success.

Thank you to all you animal lovers who have made it possible for the sanctuary to continue remaining open after the recent probability of closure due to lack of funding.

However, fundraising is a never-ending task as it costs around £700,000 a year to keep going.

One way of continuing to help is donating by Gift Aid if you are a taxpayer, no matter how small an amount.

Every penny helps and once one has undertaken to do this, either monthly or annually, you won’t miss it. I am sure Mrs Gray will be delighted with the public’s generosity.
