Sir – How can we welcome increased flights to Europe from Oxfordshire?

We have not recovered from the climate change-related floods of 2007, and the future projected areas at risk of flooding have just been expanded to take in more homes than ever. Our air in the South East is more polluted than ever too, with far-reaching, long-term health implications for all of us.

All of the destinations mentioned in your article are within reach by rail.

There is endless debate and report-writing about protecting what is left of our natural environment. There have never been so many hours spent as there are now on what to do to limit and to manage catastrophic environmental damage.

The warnings from climate experts and scientists that we need to change the way we live are growing ever more urgent and pessimistic. It is crazy that the myth of perpetual economic growth is still rated more highly than our rapidly vanishing natural environment, on whch we all equally depend for life as we know it.
