Sir – Brookes University either have to accept the fact that yet further expansion is not possible or search for other solutions to their problems.
Citizens of Oxford must be made aware that, if Brookes are allowed to develop more areas such as the Headington Hill allotments, this will result in a reduction in the quality of the environment for everyone.
It would mean the loss of yet more very precious and increasingly rare green space.
These days, areas such as this, which are part of the much needed ‘green lungs’ of Oxford should be treated with the respect of a treasured listed building.
Once student housing takes place on these lovely allotments, which have been tended and kept as an unofficial nature reserve for almost 100 years, they will be lost and gone forever. There will be no second chances.
For the sake of future generations, the relentless erosion of green land has to be stopped or we will all be losers.
