We have lost count at the number of meetings held, inquiries into and arguments about plans to build homes on the edge of Oxford.
But the development earmarked for Grenoble Road is vitally important for the future of the city.
Scores of people born and raised in Oxford are forced to leave because they cannot afford to live in the city of their birth.
That is unacceptable.
What is worse, those who oppose the housebuilding largely live outside the city in homes of their own.
By the time this dispute gets resolved, we will probably need thousands more homes than was first planned.
