I am writing this letter because I was so angered today by the behaviour of language students on the number five bus from Oxford city centre.

Aren’t these students informed by their language school that they must queue for buses? Well, that was not the case today.

A large group of them stood away from the bus stop, then as the bus pulled up they all converged to the front of the queue, pushing other people who had been queueing out of the way.

A gentleman did try and stop them, informing them that there was a queue, but they just carried on regardless and laughed.

This was absolutely disgraceful and extremely rude.

This is not the first incident I have come across with students. Last week, on the same bus route, I witnessed an elderly lady getting on the bus. There were no empty seats and she had a walking stick.

A student did start to get up but was told by her friend sitting next to her in broken english, “sit back down, you do not get up, you have paid for your seat”.

Is this how they are instructed to behave by their language schools?

I should not think so.

So please will their teachers impress on them strongly how to behave at bus stops and to give up their seats to the elderly.

I welcome all tourists and students, but not when they are rude and arrogant like these were.

Perhaps they should start having their own transport?

I wonder how many more people have been treated the same way by these students.
