Police have made an arrest as part of an operation codenamed Juggernaut in north Oxfordshire.

Juggernaut, which will be in operation over the next week, is targeting anti-social behaviour, burglary, robbery, knife crime and drug offending across Cherwell.

At about 1.50am today, a 25-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a motor vehicle, after a motorcycle was stolen from Kings Sutton and a ramp for loading motorcycles on and off trailers was stolen from Middleton Stoney.

He is still in police custody.

Insp Helen Roberts said: “Operation Juggernaut is an important tool in our battle to keep crime in Banbury and Bicester low.

“It allows us to use resources to target the issues people want us to focus on, and already on the first night of this latest phase of the operation we have seen a great result.

“This arrest came within hours of the robbery taking place, and it sends out a strong message to anyone considering committing a crime that swift action will be taken.”

Juggernaut was last in operation in March this year when, over a two-week period, officers arrested 45 people and handed out 21 street cautions.
