Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery that happened in Blackbird Leys on Saturday.

At 9.10pm, a 13-year-old boy was at the bus stop in Lobelia Way when five men, two black and three white, came up to him and tried to take his phone and money and then punched him on the cheek before running away.

The man who punched the boy was white, slim and about 5ft 10in tall, with light-coloured hair. It is believed that he could have been carrying some red boxing gloves.

Det Con Rob Barratt said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the offence, or seen these men in the Blackbird Leys area before or after the robbery happened, to contact us.”

Anyone with information which could help the police should contact Det Con Barratt at Oxford police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
