Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed in Abingdon in the early hours of Sunday.

At about 3.30am the taxi driver, a 46-year-old man, was dropping off his customers, a group of seven men, near to the White Horse pub in Ock Street, when they assaulted him and grabbed his takings, believed to be about £150.

The men are all white and aged in their late teens to early twenties. The man who took the takings is believed to be about 20 years old and has dark hair.

Det Con Rob Underhill said: “The men got the taxi from Oxford and were dropped off in Abingdon.

“We believe that the men could be from the Didcot area.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the offence, or seen these men in Oxford before, or after the robbery happened.”

Anyone with information which could help the police should contact Det Con Underhill at Abingdon police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
