Police are appealing for witnesses after a sexual assault in Banbury.

At about 5am yesterday, a 19-year-old woman was walking in Sinclair Avenue in Ruscote when she was assaulted by a man.

The man was white, aged in his mid-twenties, about 6ft tall, slim and has dark hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Det Sgt Matt Bick said: “Fortunately, the woman managed to fight off her attacker.

“I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Banbury in the early hours of yesterday morning and saw a man matching this description to contact police immediately.

“I would like to reassure the public that we have a team of detectives working on the investigation to identify the person responsible.”
