A refuse lorry has driven into scaffolding in Merton Street, Oxford, this morning leaving the structure "insecure", a police spokesman said.
Police have closed the road, off the High Street, while the damage is assessed by Oxford City Council.
A Thames Valley Police spokesman said no one had been injured in the incident, which happened at 7.38am.
