I REFER to the appalling bad manners of the 50 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) who failed to attend the Queen’s attendance at the 10th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.

Whether they were ardent republicans, or just couldn’t be bothered, it was a gross lack of respect to our head of state.

In 1603, James VI of Scotland came down to England to take over also as James I of England and brought a crowd of followers with him (that seems to ring a bell) and in 1639 the Scots invaded England even though we had a joint monarch.

Perhaps we ought to encourage the Scots to go their own way, like Norway did in 1906 when it parted from Sweden.
