CAR FANS will be heading to Cutteslowe Park in North Oxford on Sunday for the 17th annual Oxford Mail Motor Show.

Up to 5,000 people are expected to enjoy the free show and family fun day.

The latest cars from Audi, Mercedes, Ford, Volkswagen, MG, Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, Jeep and a host of other top manufacturers will be on display, as well as a feast of family entertainment.

Motorworld, which has offices in Oxford, Kidlington and Wantage, will be one of the biggest dealers at the show.

Staff members April Wyatt and Richard Lewis are pictured at the firm’s Botley Road showroom in Oxford Sales manager Simon Taylor said the firm would be auctioning 12 cars and displaying a further 12 — including Fords, Volkswagens, Volvos and Mazdas.

He said: “It’s the event of the year for us — it’s huge.

“I have gone every year for 13 years. It’s good for sales, for market research and for people to get to know about us. It should be good fun too.

“Generally, it’s a chance for car dealers who might be perceived as a bit stuffy to let people know they are nice people and take the product to the public. It’s a great way to break down barriers.”

While the cars, both new and old, are the star attraction, there will be other entertainment too.

Visitors will be able to take to the skies in a Bell LongRanger helicopter to enjoy views of the city from 1,000ft up.

There will also be pony rides, fairground rides, quad bike rides and the Oxford Mail bouncy castle.

The event will feature a live auction of 20 ex-demo vehicles from the county’s motor dealers at 1pm.

The Heart FM roadshow will be staging games and competitions on stage and there will be a selection of farmers’ produce and a pig roast.

Oxford Mail exhibition manager Rachel Legg said: “It will not only be the largest new car showroom in Oxfordshire, but a fantastic family day.”

The event runs between 10am and 4pm. Programmes cost £1.
