I DON’T know why people keep mocking the play-offs in the Football League. They keep a quarter of the league interested to the end of the season.
If the top three went up automatically, it could happen well before the season ends – then the gates would drop and all interest would be lost.
It would stop small teams playing at Wembley before large gates. So let’s not spoil a good system that I think works very well.
