Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in Witney today.

At about 12.30pm, a woman aged in her thirties contacted police to report that she had been assaulted in her house in Eastfield Road. A man entered her home through the kitchen door and pushed her over.

Det Sgt Howard Berry said: “The woman passed out as she was pushed over and when she came round the man was gone. A white man with blond hair was seen running down Eastfield Road around the time of the offence. I appeal to anyone who saw a man of this description to contact police immediately.

“This is a very unusual incident and I would like to reassure the community that we have a team of detectives working to identify the person responsible.”

The woman did not suffer serious injures but was taken to hospital for precautionary measures. Nothing was stolen from the woman’s house.

Anyone with information that could assist police enquiries is urged to contact Det Sgt Berry via Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police and don’t want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
