POLICE are searching for a man they want to speak to over a series of sexual abuse allegations in Oxford.

The move comes more than a week after a caravan parked on a driveway in Plover Drive, Greater Leys, was set on fire in an arson attack.

Detectives have said they are keeping an open mind as to whether there is a link between the incident and the abuse claims.

Two teenagers were spotted running away from the caravan at about 11pm on Thursday, June 11, seconds before it was engulfed in flames, police said.

Following enquiries into the fire, officers also began investigating allegations of sexual abuse.

Det Insp Simon Morton, of Oxford CID, said: “We’re investigating an arson at the address.

“We’re also investigating a series of offences and we’re using specially-trained officers to speak to those involved.

“Interviews are under way and are being collated and we will have a better picture of what has happened when we have completed these enquiries. It’s too early to say if these allegations and the arson are linked.

“But there seems to be a series of offences occurring at around the time of the burning of the caravan.”

Police have not arrested anyone connected with either the arson attack of sex abuse claims.

Officers would not provide any details of the man they want to speak to, but he is not thought to still be living in the Oxford area.

Firefighters and police were also called to another car fire in Campion Way at 1am on Friday, June 12, after reports of two small explosions. Officers are investigating whether the fires are linked.

Anyone with information should call Oxford CID on 08458 505505.
