A lorry blaze caused the M40 to shut for five hours last night.

Police and firefighters were called to the northbound carriageway between junctions 10 at Ardley and 11 at Banbury at 8.20pm yesterday.

The lorry was carrying pressurised canisters.

No one was injured in the fire and the motorway was reopened at 1am this morning, although traffic was reported moving slowly past the scene during today's rush hour.
