Oxford-based charity Helen and Douglas House has opened its 22nd shop, in Carterton.
The town’s mayor Maxine Crossland joined the charity’s founder Sister Frances Dominica to cut the ribbon at its official opening on Tuesday.
The shop, in The Giles Centre in Alvescot Road, will raise cash for the hospice which gives respite and end of life care for children and young adults.
Sister Frances said: “We very much hope the new shop will not only raise much needed funds to run the two houses, but will also help to spread the word in our region that Helen House and Douglas House are warm, bright, vibrant places, which support the whole family.”
The Carterton shop follows on from other recent store openings in Windmill Road, Headington, and Cowley Road, East Oxford.
David Cryer, the charity’s retail manager, added: “In the current economic climate it is important the public continues its fantastic support of the charity.
“Donating quality goods to our shops is a valuable way of doing this. Shopping in our new charity shop will also help support the local high street in Carterton.”
Mr Cryer said volunteers were always welcome, for this and other stores. Anyone who is interested in volunteering should call Wendy Bridge on 01865 779242.
