CHILDREN became real life Bob the Builders at the ground breaking ceremony for a new nursery in Oxford.
Diggers made a start on the new £1m plus Imagine Co-operative Childcare building in Cuddesdon Way, Blackbird Leys yesterday.
The new nursery will open in October and will replace the company’s existing base on the nearby Oxford and Cherwell Valley College campus.
Haydn Lunn, of Imagine Co-operative Childcare, said: “It was very exciting to have the digger and all the children there — they were singing Bob the Builder.
“Families think it is fantastic — they will be sad to leave the old place but they see this as an opportunity for improved childcare and a great facility for the estate.”
The nursery will sit on the site of a popular but run down skate park, but Imagine has put up £60,000 towards a new multi-sports park in the same road.
