Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery of a taxi driver in Cowley last night.

The taxi was called to an address on Cleveland Drive at 11.30pm; two men got into the vehicle, one in the front and one in the back.

One of the offenders then held a knife to the driver’s throat and demanded money.

The taxi driver then reversed his car very quickly, surprising the robbers who got out and ran off. They did not manage to take anything.

The robbers are described as wearing dark tops and jeans. One was six feet tall, and the other shorter. The shorter is described as being in his twenties, while the taller is thought to be about 16 years old.
