Councillor Sushila Dhall has raised an excellent point (Oxford Mail letters, March 24) on the issue of Cripley Island, in that this proposal to pollard the willow trees there should have come before the city council’s area committee meeting.
Perhaps we then might have heard the other proposal, which allowed for pollarding at the right time of year (outside the nesting season) and managed it as a wild space.
There was never any public consultation in this case and requests for transparency were simply ignored.
Thanks to the man in the tree for reminding us how much we love these vanishing wild spaces Carolyn Dutton, Great Clarendon St, Jericho, Oxford
