Axed agency workers have been handing back their BMW uniforms and receiving employment advice this morning.

Around 50 staff who lost their jobs when BMW shed 850 workers at their Mini plant on Monday have arrived so far.

They have been handing in their uniforms and ID cards and get the opportunity to speak to Job Centre Plus, Learning and Skills Council and Department for Work and Pensions.

Curtis Williams, 47, was one of the axed agency workers who has returned to the plant for employment help.

He said: “I’ve been treated appallingly. I can’t understand how the government is about to pay a bail out to BMW and car firms when people are left with nothing.”

Employment advisors will remain at the factory until midday.
