The organisers of this year’s Mobility Roadshow are campaigning for bright new ideas and more innovation in future products to aid mobility and independent living.

As part of their crusade, a new Innovation Zone at this year’s event will offer visitors the opportunity to influence future design and provide product inventors with a valuable end-user consultation platform.

A spokesman said: "If you have a new idea, a potential product at concept stage or a prototype on which feedback would be useful, the Innovation Zone is an ideal showcase.

"Whether you are a market leader in mobility and independent lifestyle products, or an independent inventor or student with a design concept, this is an ideal forum to gauge valuable feedback from both end-user customers and potential manufacturers and distributors."

Visitors to the show can help influence future products designed to meet the needs of this expanding sector by commenting on the functionality, practicality and appeal of the exhibits and indeed make a case for helpful gadgets and aids that currently do not exist.

Jacqui Jones, executive director of Mobility Choice, the charity that organises the Mobility Roadshow said: “We are working very closely with The Helen Hamlyn Centre at the Royal College of Art (RCA) to attract some of the brightest new design ‘thinking’ for this sector at a very early stage.

"At last year’s show, RCA graduate Duncan Fitzgerald sought user feedback on his new-concept Crossbreed Folding Wheel, a full-sized manual wheelchair wheel that folds away into a narrow shape for easy storage. The exercise proved extremely helpful to Duncan’s evolution of the product and visitors were pleased to contribute.”

The UK’s premier mobility and lifestyle event, the Mobility Roadshow 2009 returns to Kemble Airfield, Gloucestershire, on June 4, 5 and 6.

As always the widest choice of products and services to aid an independent lifestyle will be on show, as well as the driving experience that this event uniquely offers.

Nowhere else can you try out, either as a driver or for passenger comfort and safety, such a wide range of vehicles with adaptations - at one location on the same day. Also available to test drive will be the latest wheelchairs, powerchairs and scooters.

Travel, leisure and home products will also feature strongly and, once again there will be opportunities to join in sports, watch team demonstrations and enjoy fun activities for all the family.
