Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a fractured skull in an attack in Blackbird Leys.
At about 1am on Saturday, a 29-year-old man and his girlfriend had just got off a bus in Balfour Road. They were walking along Blackbird Leys Road, towards the direction of Greater Leys, when a man came up from behind and hit the man over the head before running away.
The injured man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital to receive treatment for a fractured skull.
The other man was white and about 5ft 7in tall. He has dark spiky hair and was wearing dark clothing.
Det Con Chris Bolger said: “The couple were near to the Blackbird Leys pub when the man was assaulted. I am sure that there must be someone who saw something and I urge anyone with any information to contact me.”
Anyone with information which could help the police should contact Det Con Bolger at Oxford police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
