A CITY-WIDE month-long calorie burning effort is set to start today.
As part of the Get Oxfordshire Active project, GO Active, aimed at helping adults to lead a more active lifestyle, Oxford’s gyms have teamed up with radio station Fox FM to burn one million calories.
Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre, Ferry Sports Centre and Temple Cowley Pools and Fitness Centre will have dedicated equipment for customers to take part in the challenge, which runs from today until Saturday, January 31.
For anyone not used to the gym, the new Aspires Fitness Suite at Temple Cowley is offering mini inductions.
And swimmers can also join in at Oxford City Council’s four participating swimming pools — Barton Pool, Blackbird Leys Pool, Ferry Sports Centre, and Temple Cowley Pools and Fitness Centre.
As part of the official launch of the Go Active project on Wednesday, exercise machines will be set up in the Westgate Shopping Centre, in the city centre, between noon and 3pm for shoppers and passers by who wish to join in the challenge.
