I read that the man who stole from poppy collecting tins was sentenced to the 12 month maximum term allowed.
What has happened to the enlightened culture of considering such people as victims? Surely a short sharp break in the Canaries would have been appropriate?
Or have those days (hopefully) gone for ever?
