Teenagers now appear to be making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Drink is being blamed as the cause of many of the problems.
But I am afraid all it is doing is making teenagers feel more isolated by society. Branding them troublemakers, so this is putting them under more pressure and only makes the situations much worse.
And it only helps to drive a wedge between the police and young people, who, because they like to meet up on street corners are eyed suspiciously. But where else can they go?
Boredom is a main factor so we need to think about trying a new approach. Getting them involved in new interests could be helpful and show them a more positive outlook on life.
It only takes one chance to prove that the more we work together with young people, then the less of a problem they become.
There are right and wrong ways to go about this. So let’s start putting teenagers first and listening, not putting them down so much. We need to understand how a teenager’s view really counts and should do the best for them before unseen circumstances start to spiral out of control.
