Members of Oxford’s Salvation Army have launched a drive to collect 400 Christmas presents for needy children.
On Saturday, they handed out leaflets about Operation Christmas outside St Michael at the Northgate Church, in Cornmarket Street, while band members played Christmas carols.
The appeal aims to give hundreds of people a happy Christmas. The Salvation Army aims to distribute 400 presents to children and about 300 food hampers to families.
It will also hold a Christmas Day celebration for 125 guests who would otherwise be on their own.
If you would like to donate a present for a child, hand it in either at St Michael at the Northgate Church or branches of Superdrug.
Other donations can be sent to Capt Wolstenholme at: Salvation Army, 109 Cricket Road, Oxford, OX4 3DL.
