RAF Wing Commander Chris Luck was on home territory when he and two aircrew flew a Puma helicopter to his home village of Widford, in Hertfordshire, to pick up a cheque for £1,000 raised for the Help For Heroes charity.
They landed on the school playing fields to be greeted by children and fundraisers.
Wing Commander Luck, who commands 33 Squadron at RAF Benson, gave the children a tour of the aircraft, presented pictures of it to the school and local pub and talked with Second World War veterans.
