Joe Swash is immune from eviction.

The former 'EastEnders' actor - who is the current bookies' favourite to win the show at odds of 13/8 - beat fellow contestants Martina Navratilova and David Van Day in the first Bush Battle.

The task saw the threesome hurriedly refilling dripping buckets of coloured water before the liquid ran out.

After coming in third place, David is now nominated for eviction next week. Martina will be given another chance to compete for survival.

Before going up against tennis ace Martina, David told Joe: "This is the most formidable sportswoman in this century. We must be potty to go up against her, or do we want to get out? Maybe we just want to go home."

Further battles to determine who else will face the public vote will take place over the next four days.

Joe already made a great first impression with his fellow campers by securing everyone a meal when he went up against former Blue singer Simon Webbe in a creepy crawly task.

Timmy Mallet infuriated the rest of the contestants by laughing throughout the latest Bushtucker trial.

The TV presenter cackled as Robert Kilroy-Silk attempted the live task - eventually walking away with 12 stars for the group after successfully completing the Jungle Gym - and his antics incensed many members of the group.

Complaining that Timmy kept winking at him, Brian Paddick said to Martina Navratilova: "He's doing it deliberately. It's a wind up to create a situation because I gave him a filthy look because he was still giggling.

"During the trial all he could hear was this cackling. You're so trying to concentrate and focus on what you're doing."

A furious Martina replied: "Robert was feeling so good about himself and he just brought him down. F**king bastard."

Later, the subject of Timmy's chortles once again arose when Joe Swash confessed he thinks Timmy is immature and unable to relate to others.

Joe said: "I'm surprised Robert didn't give Timmy one. He walked up the stairs and Timmy wouldn't stop laughing.

"You know when you're a kid and someone says don't do that and instead of stopping you don't want to lose face so instead of stopping you carry on doing it because it's a nervous thing. I don't think he's got the best people skills."

Brian was less understanding, terming Timmy a "w****r".

Timmy later admitted he knew his laughter could have been interpreted badly, but assured the others he bore Robert no ill-will and was simply being "mischievous".

The presenter went on to apologise to Robert, telling him he was a "big hero" for his plucky performance in the trial.

Robert Kilroy-Silk has completed the 'Jungle Gym' live trial in camp.

All 12 celebrities gathered around to watch as Robert competed in the 'Jungle Gym' trial, in order to win stars for the group which can be translated into food.

Robert was chosen by the public to display his prowess on a number of different jungle themed items of exercise equipment.

As Ant and Dec broke the news as to who would face the challenge, Robert sarcastically intoned: "They obviously love me."

He entered the arena to encouragement from his fellow celebs, and got straight to business on the Bug Bike - a minute of pedalling while being pelted with cockroaches. His efforts were rewarded with a star.

Second was the Push Ups of Pain. Robert had to do push ups into three boxes to retrieve stars, guarded by sand worms, rats and eels. As he attempted this, team mates coerced him on. Nicola shouted: "Think of your family," while Joe opted for "think of the food."

Robert then ripped open and retrieved a star surrounded by green ants from the Bite Bag and downed a Super C Shake made of foul smelling cheese, fruit, cockroaches and crickets to complete another two parts of the task.

The final elements to the Jungle Gym were the Death Row, where Robert had to row with his head encased in a canopy of spiders and stick insects, the stench press - another task in which Robert had to bench press while worms, cockroaches, slime, and jungle fauna were poured onto his head and finally the Sore-na.

The Sore-na was a modified sauna full of snakes where Robert had to manoeuvre two stars across a metal grid while avoiding the snakes. He completed this to earn the jungle camp full points for the task and secure a meal for the night.

Upon returning to camp all the other celebrities congratulated Robert on his win and Nicola McLean poured the contents of her water bottle over him to rid him of bugs and mess.
