Oxfordshire storyteller Marguerite Osborne told the tale of the real Alice in Wonderland to visitors at the Museum of Oxford.
Ms Osborne, right, from Radley, was at the museum, off St Aldate’s, last week to host the adult education session entitled The Two Alices: Real Child and Dream Child.
Ms Osborne recalled the life of Alice Liddell, the Victorian girl who inspired Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice in Wonderland stories.
The event also featured a display of personal items belonging to Alice Liddell, and the author himself, whose real name was Charles Dodgson.
Ms Osborne said: “This all started last year when I took some people on a tour of locations associated with Alice Liddell, who was the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church.
“I find the books rather sadistic, but Alice Liddell’s life story is fascinating, and I created the talk for the museum’s adult education programme.”
