Police are urging residents in Henley to be vigilant after an increasing number of burglaries that have happened this week.

On Tuesday, between 10am and 5.30pm, burglars tried to get into a house in Periam Close by using a garden spade from the back garden.

On Wednesday, between 11.30am and 3pm burglars broke into a house on the Fairmile. They took the car keys and stole a Mercedes from the drive.

On Thursday, there were two burglaries. Between 8.30am and 5.50pm a house in Blandy Road was broken into as the burglars smashed the rear patio doors.

In the afternoon a house in Valley Road was also burgled. The thieves gained access to this house by forcing the window open with a tool.

Det Sgt Alun Clements said: “I urge residents in the Henley area to contact police immediately if they see any suspicious activity.

“I would also like to remind people to please ensure that all garden tools are locked away as they could be used by a burglar to help them break into their homes.

"Also, it is important to be aware that thieves can get to keys through letterboxes and can then use the keys to let themselves into the house or to steal vehicles.

“We are also keen to hear from any residents who are concerned at the level of security they have on their homes and would like some crime prevention advice. Please contact 0845 8 505 505 to speak to your local crime reduction adviser.”

Anyone with any information about any of the burglaries should contact Det Sgt Alun Clements at Didcot police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
