A teenager who wowed judges at the prestigious Crufts Dog Show has followed up her success with five top awards.

Hollie Kavanagh, 14, from Garsington, hit the headlines when she won the Young Kennel Club Working Handling Finals at Crufts in March.

Then in July the youngster travelled to Belgium and, with her four-year-old Doberman Seamus, beat the best in Europe to win International Golden Lead for Best Handler at the Golden Dog Trophy Show.

At the end of September she won the Pedigree International Junior Handling competition in Maastricht, in Holland, and came home with the Best of Breed award for Seamus.

She followed up her international success by being named UK Junior Handler of the Year 2008 at an event at Earls Court, in London, on November 9.

Last weekend the Year 10 pupil at Wheatley Park School, in Holton, scored the highest points of any competitor, winning the Eurodog International Show Handling competition in Belgium. Her success helped the UK beat six other nations to win the Inter Country trophy.

She will represent the UK in the international final of junior handlers held at Crufts 2009 against some 30 other countries.

Hollie said: “It all started off as a bit of fun, but now it has got very competitive.

“When I first started out I didn’t expect I would end up in Belgium and Holland and everywhere on my weekends but I prefer it.

“We train a lot, but my dog is perfect and never puts a foot wrong. I’ve had him since he was born.

“I want to win the junior award at Crufts next year. But in the end my ambition is to win the whole of Crufts.”
