Sir – The noise from the A40’s old-fashioned and noisy surface has been a great source of pain and discomfort over many years for the residents of Forest Hill and the congregation of St Nicolas – ever since it was last resurfaced between Wheatley and the Thornhill park-and-ride.
When complaining to Oxfordshire County Council at the time, we were assured that the road would bed in and the noise abate.
This has patently not happened and we wholeheartedly support Wheatley and Holton in their campaign to get the A40 resurfaced with a modern, low-noise, safe surface.
