Sir – Once again (Weekend, November 13) we have that gourmandising bore pontificating about his latest meal, and mentioning en passant that David Cameron is an avid reader of his column.
What planet is this man on? I don’t know of many pensioners who can afford a meal costing £30 a head, excluding wine.
Oxford has many ethnic places to eat, so why don’t we hear Christopher Gray enjoying a curry, Chinese, Thai or Lebanese meal? Let’s have Helen Peacocke, who knows how to find interesting venues, and tasty and affordable places to eat.
Let her take Mr Gray and show him it is not necessary to patronise only elite establishments; throw out a challenge to him, and see if he can write his column without also mentioning the great and the good — we’re simply not interested.
Ann Cole (Mrs), Headington
