Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Barton early today.

At about 2.30am, a 19-year-old man, was at the crematorium in Bayswater Road, when he was attacked by two men.

The men then drove away towards Barton in a red old-style BMW. The man is receiving treatment for his injuries at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Det Sgt Darren Cartwright said: “I am appealing to anyone who might have any information about this incident to contact me.

“The man has a fractured elbow and an eye injury which we think could have been caused by an air pistol, but we still need to find out exactly what happened and who did this.

“I urge anyone who might have seen the red BMW or saw any suspicious activity in the area this morning to get in touch.”

Anyone with information which could help the police should contact Det Sgt Cartwright at Didcot police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
