A 19-year-old-man has been given a indeterminate sentence after raping and attacking a 53-year-old woman he met in an nightclub.
John Westland, of Fairfield Place, Abingdon, admitted rape and grievous bodily harm and was today detained indefinitely for public protection.
Westland, who has previous convictions for sexual assault and indecent exposure, was told he would serve at least three years three months before he was even considered for parole.
Judge Patrick Eccles described Westland as a “predator” and said it could be “many, many years” before a parole board was satisfied he no longer posed a threat to the public.
Westland met the woman in Strattons Nightclub and attacked her in a cul de sac in Abingdon in early hours of August 17.
