Mrs RH Speaks, of Western Road, Grandpont, Oxford, was a champion grower.
This picture appeared in the Oxford Mail in July 1958 of her beside her giant 10-year-old arum lily.
She had already cut 30 blooms from it that summer and the plant still had 30 buds about to flower.
