Members of the Marston branch of the Royal British Legion are well known for their long and devoted service.
Two long-standing members received the gold badge, one of the Legion's highest honours, in 1976.
The county chairman, Major R Duncan, presented the awards to Don Hughes, of Selwyn Crescent, Radley, and Hughie McGuinn, of Mortimer Drive, Old Marston, at a ceremony at the club in Hadow Road, Oxford.
Mr Hughes, who served in the RAF, had just stepped down after 15 years as branch chairman.
Mr McGuinn, who served in the Army, joined the Legion in 1946 and held many branch posts until his retirement earlier that year.
Maj Duncan also presented a certificate of merit to Bob Hawtin, of Ouseley Close, Marston, a member since 1949.
As we recalled (Memory Lane, October 6), the branch celebrates 50 years in its present premises this year.
