Police today appealed for witnesses after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident in Oxford.

Officers said at about 5.30pm, two men were involved in an altercation outside the shops in Blackbird Leys Road. This was followed by a non-stop traffic collision near to Cuddesdon Way shortly before 6pm.

Det Insp Simon Morton said: “We believe it is the same men involved in both incidents. A green car collided with a man, aged in his twenties, and then left the scene. I appeal to anyone who saw any of these incidents take place to contact police immediately.

“We are stepping up patrols in the area today and we would like to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to identify the person responsible.

“The man who was injured during the incident is in the John Radcliffe Hospital in a serious but stable condition.”
