A woman has been fined more than £800 for fly-tipping after Tesco Clubcard details were found with the abandoned waste and used to trace her.

Angela Pointin, 38, of Robsart Place, Cumnor, pleaded guilty at Didcot Magistrates Court on Tuesday to dumping a large amount of builders' waste on a lane next to Eaton village near Cumnor, on August 2.

She was caught after a Tesco fuel slip, found at the scene, was traced back to a Berinsfield-based plasterer, thanks to the Clubcard number printed on the slip.

The plasterer then confirmed the driver of the vehicle who collected the waste was Pointin.

Pointin was interviewed by Vale council environment wardens on September 1, and confirmed that she was employed by Facilitas SMC, to collect waste from sites and dispose of it.

However, she admitted that on August 2 after carrying out a private job, which her employer was unaware of, she dumped the waste in an attempt to ensure her bosses would not find out about the unsolicited work.

After finding out that she had completed work they were not aware of, Facilitas SMC suspended Pointin pending the court case.

Magistrates fined Pointin £315 and ordered to pay £525 in costs. During the past year, there were more than 600 incidents in the Vale council area, costing £40,000 to clear up.
