Oxford United refused to break their silence this morning on reports that the club was battling to stay out of administration.

The club declined to comment on the rumours last night and today were not accepting calls from the media.

However, with a crunch game at home to Cambridge United tonight — one that boss Darren Patterson may have to win in order to save his job — it was understood a statement could be released later this week.

Some fans are understood to be planning protests at the game, which is also being screened live on Setanta.
