A friend of a woman found dead in a house in Banbury has paid tribute to a "generous mother" whose children were her world.

The body of Sughra Rani was found at her home in Mold Crescent, last Tuesday.

Her husband Mohammed Rashid appeared at Oxford Crown Court today accused of murdering his wife.

Cousin and neighbour Saeema Anwar, said: "We are going to miss her greatly."

Mrs Rani was known to her friends as Rani, which means princess in Pakistan. She had two children — daughter Kaynaat, six, and son Usman, four.

Mother-of-two Mrs Anwar described her as 'a lovely person'. She said: "She was very friendly, polite and generous and got along with everyone."

Rani moved to England about 12 years ago and initially lived with her in-laws in Queens Road, Banbury, before moving to Mold Crescent a few years ago.

Mrs Anwar added: "She was very good with her children, always taking care of them, and wherever she went, she took them with her.

"Her life revolved around her children."

Mrs Rani's parents live in Pakistan.

Mohammed Rashid, 35, of Mold Crescent, Banbury, appeared at Oxford Crown Court today accused of murdering Sughra Rani, 30.

He was remanded in custody and ordered to return to the court to enter a plea on November 17.
