Two men tried to rob a cyclist as he pedalled though Oxford last night.

The man was cycling along Iffley Road near the junction with Marston Street when two would-be robbers approached him and started a conversation.

Then they demanded his belongings, but the cyclist refused and pedalled away.

The attempted robbery happened at about 7.45pm.

Police described one of the men as white, aged 20, 5ft 9in tall and skinny.

Police said he spoke with a Jamaican accent.

He was wearing a black top with a silver reflective graphic on the front, black jeans with combat pockets and a baseball cap with a straight peak and chequered flag design on it.

He had a large tattoo of a spider’s web on his left arm, which went from his wrist to the sleeve of his top and a piercing in his right ear.

The other man was described as white, aged 20, 5ft 9in tall and was stockier with broad shoulders.

He was wearing a dark top and dark jeans with chunky Converse trainers and a baseball cap.
