An elderly man who let himself out of a ward at the Churchill Hospital in Headington has been found safe and well, police have confirmed.
The man - in his 80s - managed to walk from the hospital and wandered the grounds of the hospital for almost three hours.
Police were called after staff realised the man was missing and raised the alarm.
Reports said the hospital site was 'swarming with police' as officers searched for the man.
However, shortly before 8.45am he was found just outside the hospital site wearing only his pyjamas.
A police spokesman said the man had been safely returned to the unit.
