Thursday April 26th is Chernobyl Day.

The purpose of this is, of course, to remember the terrible nuclear disaster in Chernobyl 21 years ago.

I have just discovered that there is, allegedly, a scandalous restrictive agreement between the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) - not to publicise anything that may discourage the promotion of nuclear power, such as the continuing casualties from the CHERNOBYL DISASTER.

There is an excellent charity in West Oxfordshire called WOVA (West Oxfordshire Vetka Association), which was founded in the year 2000. The Vetka District in Belarus was the place worst affected by the disaster, and it will be two generations before radiation levels in parts of the Vetka District reach acceptable levels.

WOVA supports schools, hospitals and sustainable developments there. There is also an ecological and cultural tourism initiative.

For further information check the WOVA website. It is slightly out of date at present, but is about to be updated.
