This week there was no game for Oxford RFC, so instead we went en masse to support our sister club Oxford Harlequins play in the Oxford County Cup Final versus Witney at Iffley Road.

It has been great training with the Quins guys this season, and I think every Oxford player has gained something from the new rugby partnership we have formed. For me personally I have learnt more in one season working with the Oxford and Quins Coaching team and players, than I had in 22 years of playing rugby!

So we hoped that the boys could pull it off, and they did, beating a very good and dogged Witney side 36-13! Witney deserve credit for the way they played, and it was only in the last ten minutes that Quins took the game away from them. I would love to tell you more about the game, but to be honest, the liquid refreshment was taking its toll by the second half, although I know that Andy "The Hoff" Henley scored a hat trick, and Duncan Lynchsmith got the biggest cheer of the game when he gave us all a wave! (Duncan used to play for us before making the step up - and did us proud by having a great game).

I must also say well done to Bicester who beat previously unbeaten Wallingford in the Plate final 17-10, and it was another great game. In fact the whole day highlighted the strength of Oxfordshire Rugby at the moment, and long may it grow.

The after party from the game was immense, although I don't remember much......or anything really...............but I am sure it was fun!

We now have two weeks till our next league game, away at Drifters, so hopefully we will get a friendly lined up for next week to keep us fresh.........I can't wait, as I don't think my liver could handle another weekend off rugby!
