London just over a month away now.
It is twice as far as my previous races so I am naturally increasing my training.
Went swimming on Saturday and swum the distance I will expected to complete in London. No problem. I'm not going to win - I think we all know that - but the distance is no problem.
I did 1,500m straight off and then, after a short rest, put in a quick 500m to finish off.
It felt great and all that Spring training from Oxford Tri Club coaches Phil and Hanno is standing me in great stead.
The only thing is that I keep forgetting to kick. The wet suits are naturally buoyant so you don't have to kick but it helps with propulsion! I plough along working on my stroke - long reach, good catch, full stroke etc etc - and then realised I haven't used my feet for five minutes. If I can iron that out I might even get better!
The issue for London is likely to be the 40km bike ride. I just can't seem to get the time to work on my biking skills properly. I need to get out for a good couple of hours every weekend but never do.
It needs addressing or London will be proper painful.
The run shouldn't be an issue unless I have destroyed my legs on the bike ride.
So much to think about....
