Whilst being interviewed outside the theatre with Fran Bardsley (Oxford Mail article Aug 9) I started talking about the 45th year of Oxford Youth Theatre, which is based at Pegasus. A lady, sitting on the next bench, also having been interviewed earlier, regarding the Palestinian group visit to Oxford, shrieked (I immediately went into my emergency mode as a trained first aider, didn’t panic and looked to see what happened): “I was in OYT.. in 1969 or was it 67!” Phew!

This has set me out on a mission. To capture the memories of all those that have been through Oxford Youth Theatre over the course of those 45 years (which makes it one of the oldest youth theatres in the country). Especially between 1962, when it started and 1995! Before our records were computerised!!!

Come on then, help me in this quest. I know you’re out there! Tell us those stories, memories, what you’re now doing etc. E-mail me: or visit the website for more info.

Well, that’s it for a few weeks as I’m off on a well deserved holiday. Although not everything I’d planned is finished, it can wait. The season brochure is out and bookings already coming thru (some good stuff even if I say so myself!); budgets are sorted (we can afford all the shows booked!); all the planning is in place for Journeys to Freedom, our major youth and community project starting in September (and all 22 professional artists working on it have returned their contracts!). yep… I can leave relaxed knowing that everything is in place and can totally switch off to go and spend some quality time with my family (the sun, beach and red wine!)

Might send a postcard….have a good one and see you in a few weeks.
